I've gotten my driveshafts, starter and transfer case out of my truck (Only thing left is the transmission), and I've found my center support bushing is shot (big surprise there ). What's the procedure for replacing it? Doesn't look like it'll be easy...

Yake it to a drive shaft place. New unit from GM is close to 200.00 and has to be pressed on and off.

you will need a press or the special puller to get it off.

just seperate the 2, then set it up on the puller or press...

It's real basic, just need the right tools.

I have a center support bearing (genuine Gm) if you need one.

Holy Crap! Almost $200 for a piece of rubber that'll wear out in less than 150k? Are there any better alternatives, or is an OE replacement my best bet?

I had all that done about a year ago on my Dad's dually when the center support got funky...U-joints and balance were kinda a "just do it because it's out" type of situation...Might have lasted forever, but we do tend to abuse parts:D

I know this is probably not an approved method, but I have a friend with a 1 ton, 4x4 Dodge dually with a 5.9 in it. After his bushing went out for the 2nd time, he simply filled up the air space around the rubber with RTV. The black stuff I think. That has held for over 50K miles. And yes, he beats on it regularly and tows heavily (typiclaly at least 15K 5th wheel back there).

I agree with the while it's out philosophy, but if your looking for a slightly cheaper route, might give it a try.

What would be the down side of going with a longer single?

More unsupported rotating mass and more stress on the transfer case output shaft would be my guess... a single piece on a CCLB would be one LOOOOOOONG driveshaft.... Imagine how long that DS would be on a CCLB 2x4 ....
