yes you can, they made them in 2004 and 2005 I believe. Ive seen one in person, it was a white 2500 CCSB. (not 2500HD) It had the 03-04 style hood/grille.

I REALLY wanted to take a picture of it because ive argued with people who said it didnt exist (the 1500HD/2500 debate seems to flood every forum out there, and 99% of the talk about them is misinformation), but the driver was standing right next to the truck and I thought it would be weird if I pulled out my phone and took a picture haha.

GM alternated back and forth between calling them 1500HD and 2500 (no HD), depending on model year....thus the endless confusion about them.

I dont know why...

No shit, ive never seen or heard of them ever being able to be ordered that way. My uncle had a 04 1500hd ccsb though. It was a true 04 (build date was 02/04).

It's hard to believe in this day and age with the economy the way it is, unless your rich, that people beat on their vehicles like this. Playing tug-o-war with your truck is just so stupid and pointless. To bad both trucks didn't fall apart.

The extended cab was called a 2500 and the crew cab was a 1500 HD. Same lighter chassis and suspension was the same on the two models.

Maybe the 2500 cc/sb I saw was a 2005. It had the 03-04 hood/grille, but in 2005, the half ton pickups got the 03-04 style grille/hood while the HD's got the newer grille with the raised hood. So maybe in 2005, the 2500 non-HD got the grille/hood from a 2005 half ton.

But it was definitely a 2500 non HD. I looked on both doors (thinking maybe someone put a new door on it or something, idk) and it was definitely a 2500 non-HD.

Like I said, I really wanted to take a picture, but didnt want to be creepy haha

When the 1500 HD came out I though it was so Chevy could advertise they had a 1/2 ton crew cab with a full size short bed, even though it was actually a 2500 non HD. My dad had one, I cant remember the year but it had the 6.0 liter gas. I think that was the only engine available.

correct, all of the 1500HD/2500LD trucks had a 6.0/4L80/NP246 (auto trac transfer case, if 4x4)/8-lug hubs, hydroboost HD brakes, the HD steering box, 9.25" front axle, and 9.5" 14-bolt semi-floater rear axle. 8600lbs GVWR.

The frame, as far as strength/structure, was somewhere in between a 1500 and 2500HD.
