So since the small turbo can take care of the drivability the non-ETT should be better for a twin setup?

I wouldn't say it would be better, unless it spools quicker. A well matched set of coumpounds will spool like the high pressure turbo.

Let me know what you use for intake piping and where I can get some;)

make friends with the guy at the muffler shop and have him order what you want.

If you live by Pat there is a major distributor center for tubing just down the road from him, other side of the 91 fwy.

say in my case though, i have a S64X (basically a S464 ETT), it would be a good small charger for say a S488 non ETT

I don't have the maps for those turbos in front of me, but I belive they are too close to flowing the same. Usually a 300 and 400 get paired up together.

Still haven't looked into what went, just doesn't sound pretty under the hood - limped it home and haven't had time to look at it since. We'll see in the morning. Since installing the headers and up-pipes all I've done with tuning is reduce vane position even more and take out some lower RPM fuel. My EGTs wouldn't get above 1250* at WOT in 4WD and I was down to 45 psi of boost. I guess something finally decided it had taken enough abuse and let go while I was "being easy on it" (relative to the way I normally drive).

Ok fellas, with all these recomendations beeing based for a LLY, would these suggested turbos be good for a match w/ stock LB7 turbo? If not what would be a good choice?

My truck is completely destructed right now and this would be a swell time to add another whirly unit under the hood! Now this is also pretty low budget so prolly non-ETT and journal bearing, if i can source a stock/factory turbo off somthin else that would be great. It dosent hafta be matched so perfectly that it spools up right with the stocker, as long as it lights off and isnt too restrictive. I know this will likly shorten my rods or worse, risk im willing to take. I have bout all the makings for good power but the sucker is starving for air and twins are the path im goin for now! So dont be bashful with your recomendations!

hi, this is my first post, but have been reading for a long time- any way i built my own twin setup for my 02, this past june. i used an s400 that had a john deere race cover on it- came with a 72mm inducer comp wheel, 88mm turbine exducer, and a 1.32 exhaust housing. it worked pretty good, but in the back of my mind i wanted a bigger comp wheel, so i put a 80mm/110mm ett comp wheel in it and had the comp housing machined, what a difference! actually spools faster than before and way faster on the street. i bought this turbo on ebay- it was a brand new take off of a john deere generator for $400, $130 for the 80mm wheel, and $70 for machining, altogether i have $600 into this turbo, a new s480 starts at $950. i am pretty happy with the way these twins work. DuramaxPowered got a ride in it, and i think he was impressed with them. the guy's name on ebay is "saulg"- deals with alot of factory takeoffs

Nothing wrong with that, could even run a 480 under that.
I think thats what Mika had in his truck except they were garretts. The 464 flows roughly 10lb a min. more than the 364, 64/80 is a very popular twin setup.

dmaxvaz,
where did you get your wheel from if you don't mind me asking? As i bought the same exact turbo you have from the same seller aswell. Great ebayer i might add. Anyways now that i have it i am like you and want to upgrade. Also if you dont mind who did you have do your machining, was it someone local or did you send it off, thanks.

P.S. Hello all first post :D
