Retail sales figures out late yesterday...

Down 2.7%...

I listen to all the negative banter/pessamistic hype on the news and take it with a grain of salt, after all its generated by the media. I try not to take what the media states as fact, IMO they should tell the news not create the news.

Down 2.7% AFTER the holiday season is a whopper! Hang tight Gents its gonna start getting real interesting in the next few months... look for retail steals as the current year product tries to enter into the market... surplus will be grand. Watch electronic prices, car prices, clothing etc. Generally speaking things that depreciate.

Yea, unfortunatley retail impacts us all to one degree or another.

To combat this we search parallel vertical markets ie I build stuff, retail stuff and alot of it. Instead of doing retail this year, I'll do medical buildings, reset recolors for the banking industry (alot of "switching" going on)... same thing/work only different.

Look at what you do and find another part of the market that is similiar and start poking around/networking so you have an option if your market thins out. When you see this coming you can prepare instead of "reeling" when it gets the jump on you.

If your a salesmen and people aren't buying what your selling, look for what they are an figure out how to sell it.

No trying to inflate my tires, trying to offer a "heads up" to guys going to work everyday that can't/don't look "down range" as often as they would like to be able to.

If your market is solid and you got some cash... keep an eye on that 7.1 Dolby surround system and 50+ " LCD... its gonna get cheap:D

x2 - I had to switch from Real Estate to Bankruptcy - count my blessings every day that I did. Business is still down from what I'm used to b/c it takes time to build my reputation and get referrals, but I'd be dead in the water if I hadn't made the switch when I did.

I'm watching computer prices like a hawk right now.
I'm in the market for a new desktop and a new laptop....just trying to decide when to pull the trigger.
