I recently bought efi live and have been messing with it a lot. I am still confused as to how to turn off the egr system. Anybody want to let me in the secret? Thanks in advance!!!

If you bought EFI Live from one of the site vendors and got a free tune with it it most likely had the EGR disabled in that tune.
Im sure it did but i dont know what he did to change it. What table do i change or is it just in the mil request page?
Go to the EGR area and set the ect/rpm values to where it will not see them and good to go. Turning the DTCs off is not turning off the EGR, only the MIL.
Open the stock and compare it with your tune
If he didnt change the settings for anything EGR related let us kn ow

you guys have answered my question. thank you very much. i looked at the stock tune vs. the new tune and now it makes sense. the rpm number was changed so that it wont come on after 200rpms. i would go ahead and assume that its disabled. thanks again!!!!
i bought my efi from Nick and he turned the egr off and the tune he sent me and my truck would't run without a blocker plate in the egr. It ran about 1 mile then started spewing white smoke and cutting out. He told me I needed the plate in so he sent me another tune with it turned on and it ran fine. I havn't heard of that happeneing to anybody else's truck though..just mine

That does sound odd. I've had mine turned off with no blocker plate for a couple years with no issues (I need one, just haven't done it
). Maybe it's an LMM thing? Either way, first time I've heard of it happening.
My first idea was definitely a stab in the dark.

Ya I am not sure I even started out with tunes from nick and still use some as a base for the tunes I run now.
Never had a problem with any tune that had the EGR off. Now as for the white smoke that could be from it erroring (is that even a word?) out and just staying open. I know that on some tune I have had to play with the number to keep it from erroring out stuff.
X2. I ran for quite awhile with my egr off and set to no codes with no plate-no problems at all!!
Ive have a blocker plate, just been lazy to tackle the knuckle buster! I guess I'll find out how that tune runs once I get it in....I have often wondered if there wasn't something else wrong with the tune that he did't tell me about and I never compared the two because Im still EFI Illeteriate!!

That would be my guess, I had the EGR tuned off on my 08 before I put the blocker plate on. Didn't have any problems.
One of my friends here in AZ had his LMM smoking white when his egr was shut off, but when he returned it to stock it didnt smoke. Installed blocker plate and ran with egr off and now it's fine...

it all depends on the tuning and of course if the egr is working properly....can happen on a lbz too. My LMM is fine along with every other LMM I have tuned without a blocker plate.
