my 11 year old bro just got a new 4x4 kodiak 350 quad. like any quad, it needed bigger bad ass tires. and i know i dont have to explain to you guys why bigger tires need more power

well we've played with every motor on everything hes had, mostly internal. this time i'd like to do something different, put a little turbo on that 350. have any of you done anything close to this and could offer some pointers? im gonna use my turbo vector as a rough template. just still leaves unanswered questions...

turbo size?
ideal turbo location, thinking about heat AND lag
intercooled or non intercooled?
if intercooled where to find a custom one?
ideal interooler mounting location?
thicker head gasket?
low compression piston?

or tell me if im just nuts? :joker:

turbo size?small, very small
ideal turbo location, thinking about heat AND lag as close to the exhaust port as can be
intercooled or non intercooled? I would say non
if intercooled where to find a custom one?
ideal interooler mounting location?
thicker head gasket?I would drop compression with a piston
low compression piston? yes

or tell me if im just nuts? :joker:

It can be done, it has been and will be done again:D

i think adding the air will be easier than getting more fuel , will have to get a bigger carb i am shure .

I was thinking about one for my 500HO sportsman, I saw on ethat a guy did before with a turbo from a 27 to 32 hp diesel tractor.

yeah, I was thinking something off a little yanmar or something would be good.

Need the supra guy to chime in, I think he's turbocharged about everything and could offer some insite.

Maybe a Smart car turbo, pretty small. Might see if that motor is in somthin else that theres kits/parts for?

A long time ago i saw a Honda fourtrax 400 the was intercooled, EFI'ed and all the other tricks. Somthin ive alwasys wanted to try myself! Tons of pickins on fleabay for good parts for this project. and cheap too.

Keep us updated!;)

I don't think that 350 will ever spool it.

The yamaha Seca turbo would probably work fine

You need a tiny turbo it is only 350cc

I don't think the 350's rev very high compared to other quad motors

Save the money...the quad is not big enough. Not many have been able to make a reliable turbo for the carbed quads...its too much trouble. If it was efi it would be much easier. Have you checked for parts...not sure how many they make for that model...if it was the bigger brother it might be worth it.

another option is jus building the motor i guess. back when he raced 120cc snowmobiles a guy here built a motor for me and made 3 times the TQ and 2 times the HP, and made the stock sled that did 8mph, 40mph+ with proper bolt ons as well
