I just recently did the egr plate and a pcv reroute. its tuned with efi and i run good before now the vanes open and close going down the road what would it be?

Are you throwing any codes? Sounds like a vain position sensor. Just a heads up, they are not cheap.

You could also try a relearn with a Tech2

no its not got an codes yet i got another motor to get one off of but what would cause it to go out one of the mods i did the trucks got 430k on it and never gave any problems

Well the little white wire on the vps is very brittle. sometime when they get twisted alittle is just enuf to make them weak or brake... do you have a flashcan??? try removing the vps and push done on it and see what kinda readings you get.

Create a Sig so we know what your working with. Assuming it is your truck that you are working on.

where you removing the vps at ?

Check your bearings (shaft play) had a lmm do same thing bearing were going out log desired vain position vs actual vain and see what they are doing
