turbo squeelin?????

Hi I have a 01 lb7 that squeels like a stuck pig when the motor strts to build high boost.....that or as the rpm climb. my alternator bearings are kindy sketchy... but this doesn't sound like a belt squeal. Kinda like a bearing? Any ideas guys. Bout to haul a bigass boat 350 miles. thanx in advance

I suspect the turbo could be at the end of its days. It spools down too fast.... or am I missing something simple here like a boost tube leak

I'd rule out a boost leak first, that was my first thought.

Check the up-pipe bolts at the back of the turbo...Ours got loose after a turbo swap and made the high pitched squeal...

X2. I lost an up pipe gasket and 30psi and above my truck would screech like a wounded baby owl.

I bet it's exhaust leak. But easy enough to pull the belt and go for a quick drive to rule out a rotational/belt squeal.

X3 on exhaust leak if it's a higher pitched squeal. It happened to me the first turbo I messed with.

If it's done it for a while you can also look for soot buildup near exhaust joints

Exhaust leak. Buddy had the same thing on his 6.7 Cummins. Turned out to be a manifold gasket leak.
