I just finished doing HG and studs on my truck and have driven the truck yesterday afternoon and this morning. I have noticed a constant spool, even under low rpms its seem to be building up boost cause I can see it on my gauge. Never remember the truck doing it before usually with it being vgt itll cut out at low rpms right??

I don't have a boost gauge but I can certainly hear it spooling at lower RPM and mine is on a factory tune.

Since you have a tune the parameters were likely set for it to spool sooner.

TX of course
Vgts can build boost at low rpms. How low are we talking though? Normally if there is a issue with the turbo it will be the be the other way and not build boost until 2000rpms.

It comes and goes like a faulty sensor almost. Only changes I made were installed a fuel rail plug on the driver side rail and I tore off the insulation on the fire wall and didnt reinstall the turbo heatshield I'm just gonna wrap the a/c line. On the first test drive I did blow the passenger side intercooler pipe off at the lower boot but it shouldn't be leaking the truck makes 30 psi easily. When it does it theres a constant whistle, then from time to time itll just go away and get a drone like it normally does at low rpm and constant speed.

The vanes will cycle which is normal. Maybe you are just hearing it more because the insulation and sound deadening are gone.

I believe a boost leak is the culprit, when it's making the constant spool noise and I let off I hear it blowing off over towards the passenger side under the hood. I will have to check the intercooler pipes and up pipes to see if they are leaking anywhere. Blowing the lower pass side intercooler pipe when I test drove it could have cut the boot I suppose, it's strange how it comes and goes though
