Thinking about switching up my setup to something a little more friendly for daily driving... current setup is 200’s with dual 10mm cp3 and 2 369’s into a 472... smokes like a pig and lags like a pita...

New setup I am Thinking of 369/480 or 484 with 150’s

Anyone run a setup like this?

Curious, but could your problems have something to do with your turbo/fuel setup not matching your area's height above sea level?

I’m not sure... but in 5th gear at 70mph if I want To pass someone if I stay In 5th gear it just smokes like a pig and barely speeds up unless I get out of 5th gear

My 200’s smoke real bad at idle they are s&s and tuner has done everything to try and tame the smoke and it just pukes it out

Unless there’s a problem with the injectors there shouldn’t be a problem getting them clean at idle. Log the mm3 on them and I will bet they are pulling from from the 20mm3 range at idle. That would be because he took full out in the idle circuit and they require x amount of fuel to idle. Mine run clean at idle with rail at 50 mpa and pulse near stock at idle. Who’s tuning it?

369/73/91

472/96/90

Thats part of the problem.
.88 housings on the 369s
472/87/.90
J converter
Danville tuning

Great street set up

While I haven't built my triple setup yet (2x 369/73/0.88 over a 472/87/0.90) I agree with Ne-max. I've ran a 96 turbine in the valley, it isn't my favorite on the street but it is damn forgiving when you lean on it. I think you'd be surprised what housing changes on the 369s (0.88) and turbine changes would get you on the 472 (87/0.90).

What converter are you running? Also like Ne-max said, a Goerend J would make that setup extremely enjoyable. The only comparable setup I've personally put a ton of seat time on with a J was a 475/87/1.00 single from Bullseye with 250s and a 14mm. It lit great on the street and was definitely not smokey/lazy.

The last area to look at is tuning. I don't know who your tuner is (don't want to make this a "tuner x is better" thread), just make sure its someone who's very reputable in the industry today and not someone who used to be at the top.

Mike L built my trans and I’m not sure which converter he used other than a goerend 3000 stall. Danville is tuning truck.

The valley charger IMO is too big on the turbine side to really be street friendly. Sadly these things don't spool turbos like an I6 does. The Cummins guys can get away with a crap ton more turbine and still keeping street manners in check. If you swap that 472/96/0.90 with a 472/87/0.90 it will be a 100% new truck. Mark will get you squared away on the tuning side, he's one of the best IMO.

As for the converter, you likely have a Goerend J then which is a great setup for that truck. The J is 2700-3000rpm. The only other high stall option would have been the Q (3200-3400) which I don't think Mike used many of (if he used any). The AR is a recent stator that has been out for maybe 12 months max and is similar in stall to a Q but couples more like a J.
