LLY: Turbo Replacement Questions/Options

I have a stock 05 LLY with a faulty turbo ( confirmed by dealer ).

I have the turbo removed ( DIY ) and am now trying to decide on next best steps. I really don't want to spend 5k on a built transmission so super power is not the aim. I need a daily driver with strong towing ability. Hopefully a bit more spunk than it has now. Just thinking now would be the time to make improvements.

1. Should I upgrade the turbo since it was such a pain to get off in the first place? Or, replace with stock?

2. If upgrade, to what level of upgrade? Any suggested models?

3. What other upgrades should I consider since the truck is out of commission for the moment anyway.

Thanks in advance.

As an update to my original post. Trust me when I say I have read and read and read. I need a bit of help on where to start.

Turbo Options I have been considering.:

1. Stock - Boring
2. Rebuild by yellowchevy
3. Garret GT3794va
4. Built GT3794va - http://www.danvilleperformance.com/danville-performance-bmw-gt3794va-stage-2-new-turbo/

Down-pipe replacement. This one seems to be the unanimous favorite.
1. Diamond Eye 3"

Programmer/Chip:
There are a bazillion options here and I have no clue which is better.

Air Intake?

Other?

As far as programmer, go with one of the vendors here, whether it be Danville, Idaho rob, kory Willis, ridge runner, via EFI live

If you're not going for more power there is no need to spend money on a turbo. Stock is enough to do damage.

At the least billet wheel, at most p&p plus billet wheel by Russell.

Downpipe won't do much but look at Ricks stuff. Profabperformance.com egts drop faster but peak the same.

You can mod the stock box and do a lbz mouthpiece.

For tuning there is nothing worth looking at other than efi.
