Turbo Options for LBZ

I would appreciate advise. I'm new to Duramax's, purchased a 2006 2500 HD about a month ago. Love the truck. Has 118K miles but never worked hard.

I'll drive this mostly as a daily driver, hunting vehicle, tow a small 5K pound trailer occasionally, but for the most part, this truck won't be used for heavy work. Any upgrades or tunes I do will be primary to get better performance (within stock levels) and gas mileage. I won't be doing pulls or racing, so no interest in massive HP increases that would require transmission upgrades, etc.

Here's my problem. The CEL keeps cycling on/off with codes P2563 and P003A. Based on what I've read, this appears to be common issue on the Dmax engine on which the turbo doesn't get exercised regularly. Again, from what I've read, this would indicates the turbo vanes are gunked up so turbo either needs to be removed and refurbed, or replaced.

What are the best options? Just clean and refurb? This would seem to be the cheapest, but given my planned driving, I may wind up with a gunked up turbo. Or, are there options to replace the turbo that don't have this same issue?

Sorry for the long thread and appreciate any insights or opinions.

I picked up a good used turbo for $250 and totally went through it to save down time. Since it was on the bench I rebuilt it and installed a Batmowheel. My brother is going to buy my old turbo for $250 so I ended up spending about $120 for rebuild kit and $400 for the Batmo. I put a thin layer of Nickel Anti-seize to help keep the unison ring and vanes from sticking.

Was the wheel worth doing? Any noticeable gains?
