I was able to get my turbo pulled today, here's a few more pics.
The exhaust side spins free with out to much end play, it does move in and out a very small amount.

Hmm.. sounds like maybe that little housing was causing some drive pressure issues and over-working the turbo? Do you have a DP gauge by chance?

No DP gauge.

At this point I need to not only figure out what is causing the problem but decide if there is a better turbo out there that will suit my needs or to have this HTT repaired.
Anyone have any suggestions? Above all I use my truck for hauling and towing but sure like throwing down when it's unloaded.

I'm curious as to why it was pulling 18-22 pounds cruising? Something in the tuning has got to be fubared to command 18+ pounds with little load on the motor.

I agree the boost seemed very high. Maybe wrong housing installed? Did you have the wastegate adjusted correctly? Too small of a housing and no wastegate opening could easily cause that.

I don't think your going to find a better turbo for your application than that htt s366:thumb:

It would be better if it were the 16cm turbine housing. The compressor wheel surely hit the compressor cover so there was considerable thrust movement for that to chew into the back of the comp cover. I would fix it and change turbine housings but you probable could go a different route for close to the same dollars and have as good of a turbo set up.

I'm aware of that, but what else would cause a boost pressure that high with no load?

No wastegate, too tight of exhaust housing?

If i had to guess maybe the waste gate wasnt functioning , no need for a looser housing since the turbo is internally gated .

And there is no need to go to a looser exhaust housing , the 13cm is fine as long as the gate is working and setup properly , as as far as boost , my truck with the S371 i am testing right now goes as high as 20 under light throttle acceleration .

Thank you for all of the reply's guys.
I'm really trying to get my head wrapped around all the variables and affects different size turbans, compressors and exhaust housings have.

One suggestion was to go to a 73-71-13. I was told this works well because dmax engines create lots of drive(exhaust) pressure. He also said he had no problem towing heavy gear with this charger.

Any thoughts?

Anyone here using a 73-71-13?
