Turbo drain question

A friend was working on his 07 Duramax, thinks he may have dropped a screw into the hole in back of block where turbo drain bolts on. Question is, where does this drain to? Does it go down into oil pan? Oil galley to filter or someplace else? Can't see it in there, and tried fishing magnet in as far as could, but come up with nothing. Suppose it is possible it never actually went down the hole, but he thinks it did.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

There is nothing down in there to hurt so wouldn't sweat it. Kinda makes an S flow channel directly under the hole. Below that is open down to rear main cap. He can try a magnet, if no joy, its gondie.. Here is a pic from my med-dut cover.

If your really wanting out the oil pan is easy to drop if it will access the area in question.
