Question: Turbine A/R ?

Please help me understand A/R on the exhaust housing better. I am currently running a Precision 2.6X3.6 turbo with a .96 A/R exhaust housing on my pull truck right now and am thinking about trying a 1.08 A/R housing on it. I guess my question is will the compressor wheel move more air at 4,000 rpms with the .96 or 1.08 housing? Or does the 1.08 move the same amount of air, but at a higher rpm? Any insite would be greatly appreciated!!!

Someone else will chime in, but as a rule of thumb the AR will move your power band up or down in the rpm range. Not really a flow volume change in either direction

That's what I thought. Truck runs good with the .96, but was wondering what I would gain with the 1.08 housing. Precision's website recommends the .96 for the 5.9 cummins and the 1.08 for the Duramax.

I already have a 1.08 housing so might just have to give it a try!

The larger housing will allow you to pump more cfm through the housing before it chokes which relates to moving your power curve to the right which will help you out with a puller to run more rpms!:thumb:

Simply put a larger housing lowers back pressure from the engine. As Mark said the power band will move to the right.
