Everyone says that pilot injection shuts off at WOT and above 2500 RPM, but whenever I log my truck, it stays on right up to redline. Is my truck a fluke, or did I mess something up in my tune? (See screenshot...) Mine only turns off after a few seconds of WOT, and doesn't seem to have anything to do with RPM.i have never found a need to change pilot timing because i am not changing pilot pulse . not to mention pilot is shut down @ WOT and anything above 2500 rpm
I figure why make it loud at idle. But there should be no harm in it, besides the extra noise.I think the jury is still out on any long term issues zero pilot may cause. Naturally you'd tend to think if the engine can endure 2500+ rpm with zero pilot it would also endure 600+ rpm without it. I think the reason there's little data on this is at low RPM pilot injection is actually beneficial as it helps to cause a more complete burn, which means double reasons to leave it alone down low.
Granted that's data I've read, as I've personally never run on a dyno to test if pilot injection helped or hurt my HP @ 800(ish) RPM
