Had my Dmax built and was having real problems with tuning. I turned to Tony at Ridgerunner and what a complete difference! Took the truck down to the Baja and ran great. Just need to clear up the knocking/chattering noise between 1300 and 1700 rpm. I believe that may be the pilot injection.
I guess this is a plug for Tony's Moonshine but he has great tuning!

How smooth is that built SDP trans?
So far very smooth. Drove my fifth wheel from Washington State to the Baja and now on my way back. The trans is running excellent. Temp are around 80 to 90 C and in a few conditions went up to 104 C. I have the trans cooler mounted where the spare was. Don't need a spare on a dually

This knocking noise has something to do with pilot injection and is very loud. Happens between 1300 to 1700 RPM. Tony sent me come tune updates. Seems to have narrowed the knocking noise to around 1400 to 1600 rpm on the heavy tow. I am going to send some more data logs to Tony in the next few days. I will update then.

Off topic but what kind of power does a heavy tow tune make on a built engine like yours?

It's more for torque and I think maybe 30 over stock. All I know is it pulls really well

that very much depends on turbo setup, fueling and what the tuner wants to give you. it can range from 400rwhp to 600+. not all tow tunes are the same, there are alot of guys who cant out run my tow tune :D

ill always support tony. i have never talked with him personally or bought a thing from him but i have some very close friends who have and there is nothing but the utmost gratitude given to him for his tuning. If steve ever pulled his plug on me for some reason, Tony would be my first call.

Well, paid a visit to SDP on the way back from the Baja. Looks like there was a boost leak, one of the O rings. This was fixed and now no knocking noise. Now I just have to get Tony some data logs to finally get this dialed in

Tow tune on my stock LBZ was 475hp from BOBO. Ran very consistent times in the quarter. Never did dyno it, just used a drag calculator. That's what it told me over 4 runs, all within .10 of each other.

Had my truck in seat tuned due to uneven rail pressure that caused surging. I guess with the LML and CP3 it takes a little more effort in tuning to get things settled down. Anyway, now the truck is starting to run the way it should. On the Dyno I am getting 830 RWHP, which seems decent.
