I am currently looking at the ppe gt40 or the mcrat htt turbo and was wondering if i would have to redo my mcrat105 tune or my 120hptune to run the turbos. I know they are both non wastegated, just need to know what to change in the program if need to. thanks in advance

The bigger the charger, the more important adjusting the tune to the charger becomes. A GT42 will run poorly with a normal race tune, but a GT40/HTT will do OK.

You can gain some power by dinking with the tune to help the GT40/HTT.

You will need to change the VVT diagnostics. The fueling curve and timing will need to be addressed as different turbos like different timing values.

so what tables would have to be changed in order for them work like they should. also can i get by with just using the stock cp3 with lift pumps? are do i need dual cp3s or a mod cp3?

A Stock cp3 will work fine. If you go with a dual fueler your gonna need to start thinking about internal engine modifications such as head studs, rods, and pistons

i was already planning on the head studs if i did the turbo to get me by until i went into the motor

Yes, also, if you add dual cp3s to the tune, keep the timing low. A friend of ours recently logged the truck, and it turns out that the special tune we have, has not too much timing, to increase longevity, so there is an actual reason why our engine hasn't gone south yet, not luck.

if you are making 618rwhp and have dual cp3's your rods are already getting shorter ;)

low timing doesnt mean its completely safe! Maybe safER tho :)

Timing is power, it's necessary with stock injectors.
My theory is reduced fuel dwell (timing),Larger injectors, High commanded Rail, big fuel shot when the piston is higher in the stroke (more or most of the fuel is sprayed in the bowl) and a lot less fuel sprayed on the lip of the piston.
Torque will be down, but who cares when the tires are up in smoke anyway's.
Torque is not something that we need. Caution: I'm normally way off on my theories.

I dont wanna hi-jack this thread but got a question going by what i hear with the set up i have right now i can not run a bigger turbo correct because it shortens my rods. I would really like to put a bigger turbo on my truck but if it cant handle it at the moment without rods i suppose its time to start saving my pennys.

I have 30,000 miles with my HTT and my rods arent shorter. I think you will be fine with just a turbo.

I am going to put duel fuelers on my truck with the stock bottem end. I am going to tune for power up high in the rpm range.

I think Mike L needs a call before you start thinking turbos.. just a thought :). Having power in the higher RPM vs down low will help the rods due to less torque.
