EFILive tuning costs?

Word is getting out around town that I have EFILIVE, and I've had quite a few people as of late ask me about doing some tuning for them. I tell them for $200(initial cost) I will do a basic tune to delete DPF, EGR, correct for tire size changes, shut codes and stuff off, or if they want other stuff the price goes up as I can't see writing custom tunes for free for somebody demanding it. Most all of them look at me like I'm trying to rape em and bend em over a barrel or something though. Does $200 sound fair for a basic tune change? I figure it is going to cost me $125 for a VIN license, so $75 more to cover the use of my V2 and replacement of it in case soemthing happens to it isn't unfair. I'm not trying to start a tuning business or anything, just help people out a bit and understand tuning better myself by doing tuning for others(knowledge never hurts when your trying to build custom tunes).

What few ppl I have helped I just let them buy the tunes from a vendor and have them emailed to me since I dont know how to build a tune anyways all I do is flash the tunes to there truck, me and the person sit at the computer I show them the vendors price for tunes, show the cost of a v2 license, and depending on who it is I charge $50 for my time and use of my v2.

I usually charge $200 for people I know or non close friends (100 of that is for HP license).. and $250 for people I don't know... It's not my day job, just a way to make a few bucks, I enjoy it, and people get a good deal so everyone is happy. Just my 2 cents on it...

Charge whatever people are willing to pay.......either they buy a V2 or Autocal and do it themselves or pay you for your license and time.

I have all stream licenses so I don't pay per vehicle to license ecms/tcms.

When I flash a tune I make 100% as I have no expenses for licensing.

I charge the cost of a vin license to use my v2. I will refer people to Rob for tunes, but have re-sized tires and done non-performance tunes for free. I guess I'm just a nice guy.

I only tune family and close friends. Mostly just turning off codes, egr/dpf deletes, adding turbo brakes, recalibrating MAFs and tire size changes. I only charge for the license. If they want a real tune I point them in the right direction.

The normal charge i do is 250. Race tunes are 300. I agree 100% with Tony. Charge whatever they are willing to pay. License, computer, software, time etc. I love the dodge boys as they love me. If i am tuning something like my first 6.7 a buddy of mine had and another had a 5.9. I let told them to pay for the license and i would tune it just to learn off there trucks. It was a win win for both of us. I figured out ALOT about tuning a dodge which is slightly different then the dmax's. In turn they got a good tune at a hell of a price. Make it worth while though. Your time shouldn't be free.

$200-300 is more than fair. If they dont want to pay that, maybe they shouldnt be modding their Dmax in the first place. Nothing in this world is free.

I've done a few for friends and people I know and I have charged them $175 for the license and $50 towards the use of my tool in case it breaks and I have to buy another, but I don't charge them for changes afterwards(the ones I have done were to help me understand tuning for other gens as I just did an LMM and what a differrence from that to my LB7). It just blows me away that people I don't know or have had refferred to me by others balk at $200 for a basic tune or $225 for a custom single tune, when a cheap boxed tuner costs $300-400. I have seen what others chage and thought I was being more than fair, glad to see I'm close to what others want.

I charge 350 and im cheap around here i retune (like of they add turbos injectors ect ect) it for free long as they have the truck i charge more for dsp tunes so i think your cheap imo.

I think most tuners charge about $500 for a stock trans DSP5 tune and around $600 for a DSP5 if you have a built trans. This includes the switch which isn't but about $50.00. I think your plenty cheap if not too cheap.

I have to agree with the others, you're not charging anything crazy.
I'd pay someone $200 - $300 just to spend the day with me and teach/help me understand everything about EFI live.

I use to charge $200, now $325,if they dont want to pay that, I refer them elsewhere, fleece and Danville are only 2 hrs away, and duramaxtuner is only 4 hrs away. If they dont like it oh well, I dont do a lot, just enough to keep myself fresh on it. Its more of a hobby for me, and a little extra cash
