Mike,
I asked this over at the Place and got no response. Hoping you can shed some light on this.
One of our mechanics told me about an email he received. His Automotive Supervisor says that if the shop finds that an Allison is "acting up" due to screwed up TCM programming, it can be cleared by doing the following:
1) Shut truck off while transmission is in Neutral
2) After 30 second wait, restart truck with transmission in Neutral.
I guess this is supposed to clear any codes and/or set the TCM into relearn or back to its original configuration. Thats the gist I got from what the mechanic was telling me.
Supposedly, this was told to management by an Allison engineer during a UPS Automotive seminar recently.
Is this true or not?
