Pulled the fuse block no sign of damage or wires being stripped cut nicked nothing. no cridders either.
truck is a 2002 rc lb twin turbo efi live and a built trans two boost guages and a egt. aftermarket head unit for radio and speakers. also bought the truck close to new very well documented truck to down to every oil change completed and services. corently at 130k miles
Do you think it could be inside the fuse block its-self. dont know what the name is but maybe something shorted out in it idk just taking guesses. thinking about switching it out with my tow pig( tow truck ccsb same setup) this afternoon.

You've obviously never worked on a 12v cummins. That's the way to go when adjusting the pump. It will shut the truck off INSTANTLY without any possible negative effects like unplugging wires.

To the op, dude just take it to a shop and get it diagnosed, quit wasting your time and money.

Actually no I have not nor do I have the desire to or why would I? :D

I don't believe in all honesty disconnecting the large bale connectors would have any adverse negative effects. On the other hand perhaps not at idle more so in a run away aspect shoving rags into a air intake could possibly have or result in negative effects. You have to look at all aspects and possibilities someone searching and seeing a way to snuff out the fire not knowing and shoving rags into the air intake to put the fire out not knowing that they could get sucked in!

Nonetheless it isn't my truck and if it works great I personally would not do it. I wasn't trying to step on toes or say you were incorrect so don't take offense I was just merely stating I would try something else ,to each their own.

I had a similar situation with my truck. Everything, but the ignition run position and codes. Turned out my 12v socket was grounded IIRC. go figure. Pulled the fuse, and everything worked again.

Lol, read my post slow about placing something in the way to shut it down. Cutting off the air supply on a runaway is the way to do it, unless you know exactly what wire/relay to pull. Pulling the bale could possibly arc something in the electronics. Placing rags over an intake would be fun to watch though.

Yup thing is I have heard of people doing just that,no joke, and the rags getting sucked in . Ya I probably over looked it sorry.

There is some not so sharp people out there and just imagine them saying I read over there just stuff some rags in there to snuff it. Now what where did they go?

somewhere in the fuse box in the truck not the wires or fuses the actual fuse box that distributes the power were need had a short in it that back fed the #1 ignition relay
