Try pulling the "ign 1" fuse on the fuse block and see if it kills the truck. if it does, feel the glow plug modual on the driverside of the turbo (black box). if its hotter than heck, shes shorted over and backfeeding power to the fuse block and will keep the truck runnin. mine and another truck has done that before

Why not disconnect the bale connectors? Thats what I would do

I would NOT try and snuff the air intake. That might be a bit dangerous if what ever you used got sucked in and I doubt it would work very well anyway quickly anyway.

the truck is running and headlights are still staying on i have to pull a relay to shut it down and i been running my setup for a good 5k miles if not more. would you think the nsbu switch could cause this thats wut i am leaning towards.

never heard of it doin that. what relay are you pulling? have you checked the main engine harness for any wires that may be shorting out? do you have a remote start setup in the truck?

Maybe it's the solenoid on the cp3 or rail that cuts the fuel when you turn off the key. I don't know how the shut down system works exactly but some kind of switch has to cut power to the injectors or pump to shut the engine down. Maybe it's stuck in the on position. I could be 100% wrong here, but at least it's an idea :embarrassed:

Have you tried replacing the relay that you are pulling to get it to shut down? Ive had relays fail in the closed position causing them to not shut off...start with the simplest things first.

i checked the relay when i remove it it shuts off switched it out with the headlight relay does the same thing symptoms are as follows truck wont shut off and all lights stay on no brake lights they are just stuck on like the brakes are being ridden. the security light is also on but nvr had a alarm system. lights are only on when its dark out bc of the sensor cant maually shut them off.
-unpluged the ingintion switch all lights stayed on and i would imagine the motor would have still been running if i started it back up.
-the ignition relay does kill the motor but not the lights.

I do not think the Ignition switch will kill the lights.

What year truck is it and what modifications have been done? Does it have any type of power module on it.

The security light is part of the factory installed system.

Did you buy the truck new? If not, pull the fuse block and explore for water damage on the underside.

You've obviously never worked on a 12v cummins. That's the way to go when adjusting the pump. It will shut the truck off INSTANTLY without any possible negative effects like unplugging wires.

To the op, dude just take it to a shop and get it diagnosed, quit wasting your time and money.

ok so symptoms are a follows that keep coming back. headlights are on at night wont shut off security light was on but now shut off. check engine light comes on after i pull ign relay to shut truck off start truck back up after replacing ign relay clear codes and get nothing for codes and no check engine after start driving, and brake lights are on. gauge cluster lights are on but cluster is off with motor. and ign relay triggers as soon as you put it in. i was hinting towards something in the fuse box itself. have to keep disconnecting batteries.

-What i have tried pulled the glow plug modual nothing
-pulled the ign switch nothing.
pulled the ign relay shuts truck off everything explained stays on just kills motor. triggers when plugged back in.
ANYBODY WITH ANYTHING
-also looked over all wiring on truck pulled on things maybe something chafed still got nothing. shorting out somewhere and in desperate need of directions of were to start looking.
-there is alot of views on this subject but no feedback.
