Dose the shift indicator work on the dash? Are there any tcm codes? Id like to say its the rat nest wiring causing the problem but i also think the wiring mess is a resault of someone trying to fix the same problem.

Yes the indicator works properly. The only code is p0700. I know that isnt a code but thats all that is coming up. I just picked up a gm wiring diagram today so hopefully I can straighten the rats nest up. Thanks for the replys

Most cheap code readers will only show the P0700 code. You need a better reader to read actual trans codes. If there is the 700 code there will be another, or other codes.

Im going to rewire the rats nest and see if it will generate a good code beside the p0700. Thanks for the help

Find a good scanner. Any nearby oriellys will have a scanner that can pull the code. Innova is what I recommend. I Carry that with me all the time, much easier then carrying my efi with me.

Since you have limp mode ,3rd, reverse most likely if your lucky it's in that rats nest! BUT what made the owner make that mess is what is intriguing! If it were mine I'd have to get rid of that first as who knows what problems that is causing in itself!

If a new harness isn't to be had at least cut ,solder and basically re-splice it all neatly and correctly!

Interesting I guess that sums it up for me I don't participate or joined that forum and you see why the quality of good info just isn't there.
I find that,
99% of all of this info on these trucks on these forums is just regurgitation from the quality forums like this one. It use to be the DP and there is a plethora of info there in the archives but just stick around here this is where the proper non regurgitation info is and your problem solving.
