Hi guys. Last night or early this morning my truck was broken into

Somehow some little sleezebag managed to break into my truck without setting off the factory alarm. Yes my truck was locked. There is no marks from a slim Jim. It appears like they entered thru the passenger side but there is no key hole on my truck there to pick

I have heard over the net and from a cop friend of mine that he has heard of cases of thieves breaking into cars using an amplifier to transfer the signal from the vehicle to the key fob. But how would that work on a truck like mine. It's a 2011 2500hd Silverado ltz.
Key and fob were in the house with me about 40 feet away but in direct line of sight thru a window inside the house

Yeah I have never heard of a device that can trick a truck to send a signal to a key fob to unlock the same truck... Wouldn't it be easier for that device to just unlock the truck? Sounds far fetched....

Are you 100% sure you set the alarm?

As far as I know the factory alarm is armed when you lock the truck with the remote. Truck was locked I checked when I locked it and the horn chirped also.

I tested this morning I unlocked the truck with the key and the alarm went off. So this leaves me baffled

I think the amplifier idea supposedly works on new cars with the push button start where you only have to have the FOB on your person. I have heard that Toyotas are particularly vulnerable to the amplifier scheme for some reason, but the FOB has to be something like within 50 feet of the vehicle. There are a lot of urban legends regarding FOB code grabbers, but I have never seen proof that these devices work on the rolling code FOBs. I have heard it's easy to gain entry on the classic trucks by prying out the door handle cover and popping the lock mechanism, but that would still trip the alarm if it's been set. People don't pay much attention to horn alarms these days though.....

Not to long ago on the news they warned of people opening there car with a remote before getting all the way to it that the code could be picked up by someone close by with some type of receiver and they could break into your car later after it has been parked.
