Ok guys...I am looking for the best truck tool box for the money. What name/ style have you all had and how is it holding up. Thanks Gents

I have 2 UWS boxes and they are holding up ok so far. My first did have the hinge come loose. Had it welded back on and all is good.
How much do you plan on opening and closing it?? I was doing commercial work for a year opening and closing the box sometimes 10 or more times a day.

I've had an Adrian box on every truck and they are just as good as Weatherguard but about $100 less. It's fully loaded with all the tools I would need in a farm field or on the road (probably 500 lbs or so) and with a little care and cleaning it looks just as good as new after 7 N. Illinois winters. They still aren't cheap though...

Got it with the trucks as a commercial (farm) customer promo. I know you can order direct from Adrian or Monroe truck.
I have a WeatherGuard box on top of my aux. fuel tank. It has been there since 2007 or so, IIRC. The clear plastic protective coating started peeling off the aluminum diamond plate. It is basically all gone now, and actually looks better as bare aluminum. I have ~300 lb worth of junk in it, metal on metal.
I open it maybe 1-4 times a week on average, so light use. The hinges and latch are all still in perfect shape. The pneumatic lift cylinders went out after a couple years; put new ones on from an auto parts store for like $10, and they work great. Seals all still work (no leaks).
Given how I abuse the truck & box, I'd say I am quite pleased with it.
Edit: Added a photo. The only photo of the box I could find was my truck in "race trim" (no tailgate or spare tire), with my old beat up bed.

I have a black diamond plated weather guard. I love this thing I use to open it alot here recently once or twice a week. It has a lock on both sides so you just unlock on one side and the button comes out to open it. You can open it from either side. I have put a chairs on it to watch fire works and everything once had four adults on it standing up and jumping around drunk. Love this box.
If I hadn't gotten the Adrian as a promo, I'd have spent the $ on it or a Weatherguard. Side button type latches are the same and work every time if you keep the button o-rings lubed with a dab of silicone or such. Delta pro might be a bit better than the old junk days.
I've got a weather guard as well. Bought it off a guy on craigslist before we moved up to Canada for $80 .
I had to put new locks on it and the clear coat it coming off but for what I've got into it I'm happy. It's their large wide and deep model, holds ALOT of stuff. The company pickup I drive has a Kobolt tool box and it's junk. It's new and full of snow b/c the seals don't work.

I have had 3 different toolboxs in my truck in less than a year. :roflmao: john deere are made by dee zee and I also had a delta no complaints with any. Had about 1500 LBS in my delta sit down box and it held up fine!! And since i work at a dealer i get a slightly better deal :rofl:
