truck running without ecm

for the past couple of truck pulls, i swear some of the duramax guys are pulling their ecm after they get there truck started in the staging lanes... whats the deal with this? i guess there just completely runnning their trucks on live or hptuners or something. by whats the advantage if any of pullin the computer?

Maybe pulling the TCM? IIRC, I fried a TCM, and drove the truck home from the dragstrip. Stuck in 3rd gear, IIRC. Been 4 years+, so I don't remember exactly.

Im pretty sure a duramax wont run without an ECM.

You might be right for guys not running EFI Live or HP Tuners!

Let me guess, green cc drw called green sting owned by mike gay??? If so, it's not the ECM being removed. It's the tcm. Guy is having trouble with no reverse on his modded tcm so he swaps in a tcm that works in reverse in order to back to sled and get around prior to hooking then removes that one n hooks up his modded tcm.

Weird thing is, both tcms work correctly in ather trucks but just the modded one loses r in the pulling truck. Crazy!!

Yepp it was the green sting, i thought it was more trucks then him owell. I saw ben jefferson carry what looked to be the ecm off the track so thats where i got it... thanks for clearin it up though

I see so many people complaining "why dont we have dsp2 for the TCM" when its sitting staring them right in the face...
