Truck Dies at the End of the Track?!?!

I pulled again this weekend (3rd time ever). At the end of the track when I got out of the throttle the truck died. It's done this every time I've pulled and it starts right back up but I was wondering why it does this? Stock turbo, 50 hp sticks, and EFILive. I don't think this is very good for the truck and was wanting some thoughts/opinions/suggestions. Thanks guys.

the converter is locked, and when you let out of the throttle really fast, the wheels suddenly stop spinning. TCM doesnt have a chance to unlock the converter fast enough before the wheels stop spinning so it stalls the engine. Same thing as if you slam on the brakes (and lock up the wheels) on a manual trans car without pushing the clutch in.

try throwing it into neutral as you let out at of the throttle at the end of the track, or dont let out of the throttle so fast.

Thanks man. I didn't think about the converter, I don't think I'll try neutral, seen too many trucks go for it and hit reverse. I'll try to let out easier. Probably not the best for the truck when it stalls.

that doesnt matter with the allison.

Next time you are on the highway, try shifting into reverse :)

(nothing happens, it just goes into neutral, its great for getting rid of tailgaters thoguh because the reverse lights still come on)

was it in limp mode? Do you have a 6-speed conversion TCM? Something must have been wrong or it must have been throwing a code...because anything over like 10% throttle, 900rpm (engine speed) and 200rpm output shaft speed will inhibit a neutral to range or range to range shift. Its programmed into the TCM and theres no way for it to be bypassed unless its in some sort of limp mode.

When I pull and get to the end I have my hand open palm and push forward on the lever and it goes right to nuetral everytime. I was nervous the first time too but it turned out ok.

X2, I tell everyone that asks me the same thing. Open palm the shifter and push forward and up at the same time. As long as you don't wrap your hand around the shifter, there is very little chance of going to reverse. And like Ben said, if you're rev'ed over 900rpm, it won't go anyway.

Don't worry if it does though, the sled will stop you from going to far back.:D
