Allison 5sp: Transmission whining

The Sunday before Christmas I managed to crack a piston in my motor. I had no odd noises coming from the trans then.

Well this past weekend I finally got my truck running again. Now when the transmission is cold there is whining coming from it.

Once the truck gets warm it goes away.

Is the pump going bad? If so from what little bit I have read, is it really as easy as just pulling the trans, removing the bell housing and the pump right there?

Any and all help is appreciated.

did you do anything to the trans while the motor was out?

Changed the fluid in it after I got the new motor in.

check this out, this filter caused me a ton of trouble. just in case you got the same filter as i did.

I didn't touch the internal filter. Just drained the fluid and a new spin on.

k just wanted to make sure, as Mike told me might want to drop the pan and make sure the internal filter isnt cracked and hasnt fallen out of the case

Are u sure its the trans? Tcase or rear end maybe?

It does it at idle in park.
