Transmission Issues this Morning

I went to leave my house this morning, and the truck would not shift into gear. I placed it in reverse, and the display on the dash said "inhibited place in N to reset". I place it in N and everything reset. I backed the truck out of the garage and shifted the truck into drive. It did the exact same thing. This time I could not get the truck to say in gear. It kept saying shift to N to reset. I didn't have time this morning to check the transmission fluid, but does anybody have any ideas what is going on?

I have a leak! My wife called me and said I have tranny fluid on the garge floor. I am not for sure were it is coming from. It's probally those cheap tranny lines, but will know more later. I hope I didn't screw up my transmission. Is there any ways to tell without pulling it?

The leak is on the passenger side of the transmission. It is were the two lines exit the transmission to the cooler. The u shape looking clip is very loose. I am going to replace the clip. How loose should the line be in the connector without the clip on it? I remember it being very tight, but it is sitting in there pretty loose. Is that normal.

The line should be resonably tight and the clip should be tight. The clip only locks the line to the fitting. There is an o ring inside the fitting that seal it.

I must be missing the o ring as well. It's definitely not a tight fit. The dealership told me that the clip isn't sold by itself. Is that true? The black plastic cover was brittle and broke off. Mike - do you have a extra clip, a plastic cover, and an extra o ring lying around that I could purchase from you? Do I have to remove the fitting to get access to this o ring? Hopefully it is still in the fitting.

Thanks for your support!

Search for a company called Help...they carry hard to find parts like the clips you are talking about.

I drove about 50 mins. to a place that had a new fitting. When I got home and removed the original fitting, I noticed the new fitting is not the correct size. The thread diameter was smaller. I then examined the original fitting. I didn't see no cracks or anything that looked unusual. I also replaced the inner o ring on the original fitting. I also examined the cooler line. I didn't see any cracks. I put everything back together to see if it fixed the leak. Of course not! The leak is coming from inside the fitting were the cooler line pushes into the fitting. This cooler line is not as tight as the other one. I am going to now replace the cooler line.
