Transfercase output seal

So the other day I just wanted to top off my transfercase for the fun of it. I just took out fill plug and squeezed as much in as I could (maybe half of a quart) and quick put the plug back in. Since then I have noticed fluid is spraying all over around that seal where the driveshaft goes in, all underneath of the truck and everything. But it doesn't leak when it's just sitting. I'm kinda wishing I just left it, what should I do?

With a leak at the output shaft seal, it could be one or more of three things causing it.... bad seal, bad bushing, or bad slip yolk. I replaced all three after talking to Mike L about my leak from the same place. No mo leaky leaky :D

These parts are not expensive however if the bushing needs replaced, you'll have to have the new one pressed in and the TCase will have to be split in half.

You forgot one, bad driveshaft. My bushing is TIGHT in my case, just put a new seal in it, and I already put in a nickel plated slip yoke. Yet mine continued to leak. Put it up on jackstands, put it in drive, and watched the driveshaft spinning and could see right away it was bent. Got a new shaft built and no more leak. Mine had also leaked down to below the seal level, and would only leak while driving.

I just order a bushing, seal, and all bearings for my transfer case. It leaked out the deal to where it was dry and I didn't check it and now I have a binding/banging sound when I put it in drive and give it gas. I also have bad vibration from idk what, but it cracked my rear housing on transmission. I replaced driveshaft and u joints and still have it. Better make sure you take care of everything while you got it out other wise you'll be like me. Lol

This may be a dumb question but is it possible that I overfilled it, and if you guys were me, where would you start? Just replacing the seal first?

How many miles on your truck? Slip yolks don't last forever. When I took mine apart the bushing was wore out too. Again....these are NOT expensive parts. IMO it's better to just do it all in one shot.
