Transfer Case Vent Tube?

My 01 duramax that has roughly 350k on itm just started spitting fluid out the vent hose from the transfer case. I just pulled it out of the truck to tear into it to see what it needs to be fixed. For those that deal with these often, what is most likely my problem? I was thinking either:
(1) The TC input seal is shot letting the trans overfill the TC or
(2) Something let go inside of the TC creating enough heat to make the fluid expand and come out the tube. I only say this because when i bought the truck it had the pump rub hole and no fluid in it.:thumb:

How common is it for the input seal to leak?

When i rebuilt mine on my old truck it had some broke plastic rings/plates in the bottom of it. Im sure once you get it tore apart you will find all sorts of things going on in there. They are pretty simple to rebuild and M/A has everything you need for them, i know there not a vendor here but i gotta say they really have the most selection on t case parts

Just had a truck do the same thing. The tcase input bearing came part and took out the front input seal causing the oil for the trans to fill the tcase with trans fluid.

I finally got er tore down and the input seal looked fine, not saying that it wasn't the reason but from the looks of it didn't look bad. Inside the only thing(s) that was broken it the big fork had the pads melted off and started wearing on the fork itself, and the syncro friction and outer syncro were broken :woott: :D I got some parts ordered and will be here in a few days then i can throw it back in and get it movin again. I just hope it is the input seal.
