So... Apparently transfer cases require fluid in order to operate properly. They should really put that in the manual. Anyhow, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of easy to find information about the MP1626 xfer case, and I’m kinda swimming here.
Here are a few questions to get us started:
What is the difference, really, between the 07.5-10 transfer cases and the 11-15. They, supposedly, are both called MP1626XHD, and everything I can see in pics they seem to be identical. What’s the difference between a 1626 and a 1626XHD? Did they ever put a 1626 non XHD behind a diesel? What are the internal differences.
All of this boils down to a few important points: I want to buy a remanufactured unit and just want to explore all my options, but not short change my truck or it’s reliability. I don’t want to get bamboozled into buying a non-XHD if it’s being sold as an XHD.
Last question... what’s the trick to separating these case halves?!? Hahaha Short of a hammer to the case, a la piggy bank, I’m not sure I’ll make it in there. I’m not afraid to rebuild this dude myself, but my patience is wearing thin.
Any help or insight, no matter how seemingly unimportant, is greatly appreciated.
