How often you guys changing the fluid and internal filters on your built trans with a deep pan?

Mine has 30k on it now and the fluid smells kind of shitty to me but is still nice and red, it's got a little tint to it but not very much.

I've not been changing the spin on like I should, I've changed it 3-4 times maybe since the build.

I would say your due. 25-30k is what I what I recommend for anything with additional power over stock.

Do you have to be more carefull with doing oil changes and filter changes with built transmissions or what? I had mine built first of this year but I had 140k miles on factory one and didn't do one thing to it.. Never even changed spin on filter. Now I'm sure that's not the best thing for it but just curious if built ones contaminate the oil worse or what?

What do you guys run for fluid in your built trans? I'm coming up on 20k with my built trans and haven't changed fluid yet. My builder put dex 3 in and he suggested using dex 3 again. I see everyone talk about transyd but I'm not sure if that's just for stock transmissions or what.

Just like anything else, you up the power beyond factory ratings and things will need more care than factory guide lines say. Not to mention you should be keeping an eye on things to make sure you don't hurt the parts you dropped lots of money into, otherwise prepare to be paying sooner than later.

I run dex3 and change it often. Transynd is great for stock clutches but not the best for these harder aftermarket ones.

Sweet thanks James. I will stick with dex 3. Dex 3 is all the same between brands right?
And should I do a double drain and fill or just drain the pan via drain plug and top off?

I'm going to be putting super tech dex 3 in mine, any dex 3 will be perfect for a built trans. And as most of you know I beat the absolute shit out of my PPE trans Caleb built and I ran the cheapest dex 3 you could buy in it and it loved it. God I miss that truck.

I prefer dex/mere from valvoline. I knows dex3 for sure.

Drain, refill, drive for 30 min or so, drain, refill and good to go.

I do the hoot method (pull a cooler line and run it into a bucket, start truck and fill bucket to about 6 quarts) I do this till I get clean fluid coming out which is about 24 quarts.

How much is the valvoline? I just drain and filled before, took around 20 qts.

I still have the stock trans lines and it makes it a pain in the ass, that and I'm afraid to mess up the crimp.

I need to quit dicking around and get some hydraulic lines on.

My built trans gets fluid change every 30-35k miles with Mobil 1 synthetic dex 3. 75K miles and still kicking since the build.

Mine has the suncoast 6-3 Raybestos kit. I think I'm just gonna do a regular dex 3 and swap internals out. Gonna cut the old one open too

Super tech dex 3 is good stuff...cheap and works great. $12 a gallon at wally world is handy. The valvoline dex/merchant is around $14 a gallon at walmart last time I looked, bee a few months though
