So does a built tranny tend to run hotter than a stock one? ive got a stage 4 by mike and ive gotten it pretty toasty going over the mountains here on i70 in colorado this week pulling a heavy load.

Another derail....but anyone know how accurate the trans temp reading out of the obd-II is??
Dash trans temp calculates on pressure whereas a tapped pan/aftermarket gauge is an actual thermometer if you will
They read from the same place; pressure switch manifold heat sensor. This sensor will be reading some heat sink as it is bolted to the valve body. With an aftermarket sensor reading fluid temp from the pan your temps will read lower.
