Trans cooler fan

Was thinking on putting a trans cooler fan on my factory trans cooler. But trying to find one thats about 4.5" is hard. Is it worth it. A new trans cooler is like $400 or i could go universal but i dont wanna go threw the hassel on fittings. So i was thinkin of putting a fan on the factory trans cooler. Is it worth it? Anyone know who i could call to try a get a fan that small? Opinions welcome.

If you mount it in front you will have to have it on all the time as it will block air if it isn't.
Lookup SPAL fans. They are the best.

The fan will spin unless it's fubared regardless of weather or not it has power to it

Electric rad fans dont constantly run and it's the same idea

If you do a lot of stop and go traffic it might help

I have tested this. The fan frame will block airflow because it's in front. Your radiator fans are puller therefore the fans are behind and do not block airflow.
Whatever.

Of course it will block air if mounted in front. So they will have to consitantly run. You have the motor that will block the air. Only the blades will move the air.

But mike. Should i go with a slightly larger fan like the 5.2" or the slightly smaller fan which is 4". The cooler is 4.5" in height

Go with the smaller one and mount it as close to the passenger side of the cooler as you can. You want the fan to hit the hot fluid as it gets into the cooler. Factory cooler sucks and this will not be very successfull unless you run the fan full time.

I mounted an 8" fan on my factory cooler. I seems like it helps at lower speeds...but it's not enough I can really say that for a fact. Haven't noticed much difference at speed with it on or off, but it's cold here....once the warm weather shows up it might be more obvious what effects it has. Really though, it's not going to help you much except maybe a bit at low speed...
