Ok so I went to mudfest this weekend an on my way there I wasn't pulling anything an was running a constant 17°0-180° and I did not run my truck at all an now on the way back im hitting 250° an its telling me to let truck idle. Its done this before but hasn't in about a month but haven't done any highway riding . Any one know anything?

Since you have an LB7 your G solenoid is inactive and it won't cool down at idle; only the LLY's and 8.1's have that solenoid lit up. ( dumb, go figure:( ) Given the temps that you stated, I suspect a converter going bad.

I bumped into a guy at my dealership while checking on a bushing. He was having a similar problem with his truck. He said it was the temp sensor on the transmission. His transmission wasn't actually overheated but the sensor was tricking the truck into thinking it was. I could be completely wrong here, just a guess so don't hold me to anything.

Simple check with a Tech 2 will answer that question. I never listen to hearsay as it is always bs.

So I found out that the leak is from my dipstick o-ring and my 4x4 actuator is going out so everytime I use 4x4 it will tell my truck that the tranny is hot?

Did you happen to play in the mud in your truck at the mudfest? Maybe a bunch of crap blocking the transmission cooler?

Could it be a pump?

Not likely. Bad pump would cause slippage on all your shifts and all kinds of codes. Bad pump would act like a bad A and B trim solenoid as they would be the first units to react to low pressure. When a pump goes, it goes fast and you are on a flat bed.

Ok any ideas why it would over heat? Do I need a bigger cooler? Even in stock mode it gets hot but only on long drives or if im gettin on it around town.

Did you listen to mike when he said chances are a converter ? When my ats converter failed it did the same thing your describing , plus lock up was very poor . Chances are your converter is out .

You may or may not notice a difference right away in drive-ability. It's either a bad temp guage or instrument cluster issue or as said a bad TC.

You need to use that Tech II again and monitor slippage of the TC once locked. If the diagnostic checks out with the Tech II than look elsewhere. The Transfer case has nothing to do with heat.
