I have a 2005 lly duramax with efi live tune and a stock tranny, nothing has been done with it, that i know of since i bought it back in september of 2010, i turned the chip up a few weeks ago and the sucker went into limp mode on me, i was running a p0700 error, i stopped using my chip now but i got in my truck yesterday morning and while on my way to work it was shifting just fine, i went to pass someone and it's like my truck ran outta power, it bogged down wouldnt shift and it cranked my rpms up to around 2500, so i let off and it done a really hard shift, i put my foot back into the pedal slowly and it seemed like it bogged right down and downshifted on me, any help would be appreciated thank you :thumb:

I may be wrong but I dont think you can limp a trans and not get a cel. When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?

no no no, when i limped the trans i got a cel a p0700 but now it's not going into limp it's doing something different and weird like its slipping or something, and it's funny you say that because yesterday my change fuel filter light came on, i am gonna change my fuel filter and also my external and internal trans filters and see what happens

The code you got is telling you that there is a code stored in the tcm hav e to look deeper. To get the a stored code.

yes, but i got all that solved, is there an explanation for what is going on now? tranny slippage, not enough tranny pressure through the lines? i have been told by a buddy at work to change the internal tranny filter and see what happens..

If your clutches are slipping, it should limp the transmission and throw a code. If you're going to do a filter change, you should change the external spin on rather than the internal sump filter.

why not just change them both?

Its a steel mesh that will filter big particals only. If its plugged you have bigger issues to worry about

what about the lines, he also suggested getting a line cleaning kit, idk if that would help either, either way i am getting a fully rebuilt tranny in december i just need something to hold me over for now lol

The internal filter is only meant to be changed during an overhaul (as per Allison's literature). If you aren't getting a transmission code, I doubt you are having any slipping. I would change the fuel filter first and see what happens.

You got what solved? Clearing the code solves nothing.

i found out why it was throwing the code, i was using my chip and over powering my allison making it shut off so it wouldnt slip and really tear something up, or so this is what my mechanic told me. im really not thinking it's the tranny anymore though, my change fuel filter light came on i'm gonna get a new one on there tomorrow and i will see what happens

When the fuel filter plugs up it takes more throttle to achieve the same power. When you push the throttle down and the engine doesn't accelerate the trans downshifts in an attempt to get the truck moving and shifting is all out of wack. I think this is kind of what happens. I've also seen a completely stock truck do this with a new filter. Ends up his cp3 was getting weak. The dealer was trying to sell him a new trans, I called Mike, he told me the trans doesn't slip without throwing a trans code. Thanks Mike you saved my friend $4,000! His trans is still perfect.
