You will have to excuse me but I'm new to this forum and a new owner of diesel and a lot has happened in the 4 months I bought this truck. So please bear with me and someone help.
Quick run down about the truck, 03 Chevy 3500 dually with the Allison in it, bought the truck out of state at a run-a-round dealership in Columbia City, IN while working in Ohio. Drove the truck about 80 miles back to the hotel. Next day at work truck went in to limp mode ended up getting it towed to a Chevy dealership in Lima Oh. Three weeks and 3,000 dollars, out of my pocket, I get my truck back with a rebuilt tranny. Truck ran great, had 172,651 at time of rebuild now has 178,765. Truck started acting up after a long drive 1200mi, Rome New York to Ava MO. Took me 22hrs of drive time with a 10hr nap drove with cruse all the way running 60 to 70mph on all interstate Hwys. Got closer to home on two lanes with hills and curves truck started to down shift rev to 3 grand would take awhile to shift out of gear. Next day went to town check engine light comes on, and wont engage in for wheel dr. hi or low. Got to town and started it back up and ran just fine with no check engine light on. That was on May 26th. Ran great till last weekend was coming from KCMO to ST. Louis with cruse and left a gas station on ramp went to speed up and it didn't have any power. It was increasing so when I got to 60 I left it there and didn't use cruse, would drive and truck would cut out and drop rpm from 1900 to 1600 then pick right back up. Did this roughly 20 times then drove fine for 70 more miles. Got to hotel was at stop light and truck lost all power shifted fine to second and regained power, pulled into parking lot space went to back up heard a loud and hard clunk would not go in reverse just revved up, put in drive same noise and would not engage. I shut the truck off came inside and almost cried lol, I can say that now because its true. This truck is my baby and I love it. Went to work the next day locally in St. Louis area, truck drove fine. Trucks been running fine till last night drove across the roadway to get some items from gas station left it running came out made a pretty sharp turn towards the left and truck felt as if the duels were locked up or locking up. Best way I can describe it is how when a tractor trailer makes a sharp turn and the trailer tires grab and squeal. Same thing put in park shut it off let sit for 10 min or so then fired right back up put in gear really nasty grind and clunk sound, shut the truck off disconnected the neg. battery cables let sit for thirty min. Went to grab a bite to eat and truck ran fine for about thirty min. I stopped at a stop light and lost power,( when I say that I lost power I mean I got my foot off break and gas peddle about 1/3 the way to 1/2 way down and am barely moving) get to second gear truck accelerates fine, drives fine. Got back parked it came inside and cried. Bought the truck for $18,900 put $10,000 down with a trade in of $1500 on my old Chevy, put 3000 more in the tranny. I love this truck, its what I have always wanted. I'm in to deep and don't know what to do. As is warranty screwed me bad, but I'm willing to keep fixing it if its going to be worth it. Also truck is LT model, has the steering wheel controls for the radio work. To rotate the millage reader I have to push the button on the wheel with the gas filler on it. millage reader is always cycling and either lands on Spanish or I think its French. Once since I've owned the truck was the millage reader in English for a split second.
Again am truly thankful to have joined this forum. Sorry this was a book but I wanted to have anyone or everyone who might be able to help me understand what I have had happened and maybe give suggestions to fix some or all the problems. Maybe even point me in the direction of finding out the problems. As of right now I don't know if its electrical or maybe vacuum or the tranny is shot again.
1. Tranny acting up
2. Back tires seem to be locking up when turning both directions
3. Over and under revs on hilly roads
4. Tranny making pops cluncks grinds while shifting sometimes does not engage 5. Millage reader cycles and wont reprogram to English
Truck is stock as far as I can tell, dealer who rebuilt tranny said same thing. When I bought it had PPE stickers on it but I took them off. Don't know if that could be part of it. Just guess that's why I'm here so I will quit speculating and get some answers. Please any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
