ATS Extreme trans
I would recommend it. They build sweet trannies for any application and their warranty doesnt get much better. I pound the crap out of mine and ATS knows it. They built my tranny for that and if i will have a issue they will fix it asap and ask no questions......it will get fixed. The co-pilot no good? Who wouldnt want extra psi pressure applied to their plates?

Every tranny builder has issues now and again.

The clutches had bubbles in the adhesive that holds the lining on. Only 75% of the surface was actually contacting. The converter lost it's clutches in less than 200 miles of gentle freeway driving. The CoPilot did not powerup when 12v was fed to it. It apparently wasn't checked for continuity after assembly.

There were 2 other trucks done within a month of mine locally that had the same clutch defects.

Yes, some folk have reported excellent results with ATS stuff. But I wasn't one of them.

ATS has a kit that holds 500-600hp. Comes with 5 star TC, Pump kit, C1-C4 clutches, shift kit, filters and gaskets.

2,600.00

I am one of the happy ones and so are thousands of others. I understand your werent happy with your trans from them and thats ok. It is just another option i thew out for him. Just like throwin out DDT, NADP, MikeL, TTS, suncoast, BD etc etc. Only difference is ATS makes their own plates, co-pilot and 5 disc TC. Trannies are like vehicles, some are good and last. Some fall apart sooner than others. Its all luck of the draw and what the tech drank the nite before.

I guess I didn't realize the additional parts in the kit...I thought it was converter, new better holding thinner clutches in greater numbers, and a Transgo= 500hp transmission but it sounds like the best option will be to save up and splurge on a SCIV because I plan on being in the 600hp ball park eventually

Mine and righteyeblinds trucks are in the 600hp realm and are fine on sc 3s. Robs truck is on a tweaked tts kit and running 11.70s

Then why aren't you running it?
A .135 PR shim, Transgo s/k, machined C3 top plate and one extra clutch in C3 with a Precision converter will hold 700hp.
I developed this kit for steve 4 years ago and told him I would never install it. Why is it not in your truck? I don't see you running 600hp. that would put you well into the 11's. You ever seen 11's in your truck? If you did have that kind of power your 3/4 shift would put you on a trailer before you ever got to the finish line.

I helped Rob with the pump mods, no need to divulge. Low 12's is 550hp. Tuning won't help your 3/4 shift when and if you hit 11's with you Alto power pack and neither will a wave plate.

I'm sorry but I have to jump in here cause hp is based on mph not time. 108mph is what mine hit and that is 585hp ish. Working with tuning and a couple other things... I will be 600hp...

I'm just letting this guy know what we are trying. Tuning does help my 3-4 not bang.

i like how ppl try to tell Mike he doesnt know what hes talkin about. He can prob turn water into ATF haha

just go with a SC IV its a little more then the III but you will be able to add more to your truck and not worry about it. either have SC build it for you, Mike L, Eric, or some other shop that knows that they are doing.

i have always went went what mike has suggested and and the trans has always treated me good , i am on a sc3 with a shimmed p/r , a few of mikes tricks for avoiding the 3/4 tie up, a c-3 oiler , and the trans has lived at 600 hp but im am pushing my luck if you have plans of racing go with the stage 4 suncoast kit you cant upgrade the 3 to a 4 later dont ask me how i know  but i cant attest to the fact that the stage 3 can hold power above 500 hp
