Well that's good to know. Guess its not easy then! My Allison manual states specs for testing them with a vom, I just figured that's how you did it.

That test will tell you if the solenoid coil wire is open/shorted and has proper resistance. Still a cheap test to check solenoid problems. As Mike said-- it does not test performance.
