I removed my spare tire and placed the air tank there and the compressor sideways on the frame rail that tire was mounted to. I put the snorkle behind the tail light. My truck horns went behind the grill in the frame for the little oil cooler. I also made a service line into my bed so I can fill and plug flat tires:eek:

I would mount the compressor under the bed somewhere. It will be out of the way from anything in your bed. I just got some vibration isolators off a Mack truck from a condensor. Mines is mounted sideways, bolted to the frame and secured with nylock nuts. I do know there are mounting plates you can get with large u-bolts that go on your frame. As for the water, as long as you have the snorkel kit (you can make your own with hardware store supplies) and use that shrink tubing on your electrical connections you should be fine. As long as you are not doing submresion! Also, I do not know how cold it gets by you, but you should get a battle of air line antifreeze (avalible at any truck stop). Mine is all under the baed and I plow with my truck so it usually gets caked with snow. So we will see how it works. I also found a beter compressor than the viair that I have. Made by PacBrake. Fills a 2.5 g in 1:15min. Maybe if the other one goes to heck I will get that one.

I've had my trains horn compressor in the bed with the tank for a couple of years with no issues......It's been through rains storms, hail, snow, and the truck gets washed weekly with no issues........I will try and post a picture. I originally mounted my horns underneath where the spare was, but have since moved them underneath to a crossmember by the trans. I put the spare back in.

Bed mounting would have been an easier option too, but I haul stuff in my bed. Dirt, mulch, sand, pallets of salt, snowblowers and the like. For me that was not even an option. However, next summer I may look into a relocate for the air tank so I can put the spare back in. Right now I just carry a plug kit and a fill chuck!

I have my tank and compressor mounted in a box I made. I do run a cap on my truck most of the time though. I have the horns mounted separated one in front of each rear tire and one above the driveshaft. I did put a flap in front of the tire to try and keep the weather off them. I have a set of Nathan air chime k3la's.
