Used truck tires are good, they will wear like iron.

If the OP didn't know how to tell age, read the DOT code on the tire. One side will have the date code at the very end. The first two numbers are the week of the year (01-52) the next numbers are the year (2010=10,2013=13 etc)

You wont find LT's in that size.

I know how to convert tire sizes just was working on trailer at time and yes I can read for I work for a tractor trailer company and do 10-12 tires a day because we won't run over 3 years old. Finding 16s with my lug patter and offset is being a pain in the ass and most of my pulling is up and down around mountains occasional interstate

X3 on the maxxis. I have them on my tandem axle 20 ft boat trailer. Feels better pulling it than when it had the Carlisle on it like the side walls are stiffer

I went with a kumho 857 205r14c which is a little bigger than 205/75 but the capacity per tire is 2271 which is very nice

Sad when this is how most people determine a "good" trailer tire. Nothing against you just shows how crappy they are.

For 16" I run Michelin XPS Ribs because they are all steel and wear forever. Otherwise I'll convert to 17.5 and run XZE2's.

However this is a boat trailer, doesn't see near the weight or miles of a cattle trailer or flatbed. Maxxis is decent. All trailer tires suck though.

I agree, I have seen far better performance, long term, from friends that have switched to LT "E" rated tires or higher, than they or I have ever gotten with the ST tires. No one is paying any attention to what the Chinese are sending over here and the last 6 tires I have bought that were ST's, 4 have blown. Several different brands, all well within rated weight capacities, and speeds always 60 mph or lower.

None of my tires that blew were over 2 years old.

Oh, and good luck finding actual "steel" in the belts of C and D rated ST tires.
