:( ok. i had a tekonisha? brake box laying around so i put it in my truck, fixed a couple lights on the trailer, and now when i turn on the right turn signal or hit the brakes the trailer brakes lock up. i thought i had a bad controller so i unplugged it and still locking up! any ideas?? are the factory plugs any different from year to year? the plug i got on there now at the hitch is a factory 2002 plug cause mine broke out of the holder. i need to check to see if maybe some wires are touching inside the loom cause it had a goose neck hitch and harness in the bed and id about bet they cut the wires and didnt cover them. but if its not that what you guys think?

Do the beakes lock when you hit the brakes
Sounds like the right turn signal is crossed with the brake light. If you hit the right turn signal dose the left light blink as well

The electric brake terminal and the right turn/brake light terminal are side by side in the plug so it sounds like stray wire in the trailer plug maybe.

The factory harness that goes under the dash that plugs into the brake controller is different so it may be different on that end also.

I'd say its the wiring on the trailer I ran into a simular situation Saturday night. Borrowed a trailer to go pick up a friends truck cause he blew a Number 4 injerctor line on his Cummins. Hooked up the plug had no lights and the brakes were locked up. I have hooked plenty other trailers up to my truck and havent had one bit of problem. My buddy tried telling me my truck was wired wrong. Also my brake controller will let me know if i have a trailer connected to it and it was blank.

What model Tekonsha?

If it's a Voyager, turn both dials all the way up(top of dial forward) and retest.
If it's a Sentinel turn dial and knob all the way up and retest.
If it's a Envoy, turn knob on front and dial on bottom all the way up and retest.
If this gets you red light with foot pedal depressed then controller just needs set correctly.
If this doesn't get you red light then squeeze manual over and see if you get red.
If this does get you red then you probably are not getting power in on red wire(stoplight) and the Center High Mount Stop Lamp fuse is probably blown.
If this doesn't get you red then controller is probably screwed.
If this doesn't make any sense and confused the hell out of you then pm me your number and I'll call you.

Thank you a ton! it was the voyager. and turns out i had some shorted wires on the plug. they hadnt fixed it back right once they took the other plug out. so with a little solder im all straightend out.
