you got the short end of the deal, usually quads cost more than dirtbikesI traded a 2004 YFZ 450 (quad) for a 2005 yz450f (dirtbike). Traded a dude straight up. This thing is huge, I'm 6ft and I'm still on my tippy toes:spit:
Anybody out there have one, any tips or things I should know?

John Wayne was 6' 5" and had 26 " legs.
I had a 03'. The motor was awesome, suspension sucked. Installed ohlins ti nitred forks and rear shock, valved for 185 intermediate (moto) oh my was that suspension nice. The suspension on your 05' is very good stuff for factory.
As stated above the yami is almost bullet proof. Change the oil regular & keep your air filter clean. Check the valves once a year, mine never needed adjusted even after 3 years of racing it.
What kind of riding are going to do with it?
Don't know how serious you are, but suspension mods top my list on all my bikes. Your bike is factory valved for moto & a 165-175 pound rider, it might feel a little stiff & harsh for woods or soft if your closer to 200 pounds.

neither! He made it seem that somehow he got a deal on it since the gentlman traded him "straight up". Anyways mike, merry christmas to youdid you lose any money on this deal or do you just like sticking your nose in other peoples business?

Maybe not, I would ride it and get comfortable with it first. Don't climb anything your not totally comfortable with. Your in the the target weight range for that suspension, but it is set up for moto not the woods. Like I said above it may feel a little harsh, maybe not. The kayaba forks are copies of showa's stuff which are very plush. I raced moto, so I dealt with harsher suspension when I rode it in the mountains or anywhere other than a track.
my bike may have been worth 100-300 bucks more. Big deal. I wanted the dirtbike so i traded him. Don't know how i made it sound like a good deal?? I was just seeing how many bike riders we have here.
