I am looking a making a set of traction bars. Is there any advantage of running long bars over short bars, how much angle do you need to keep axle rap in check. Right know the truck is at stock height, but I may do 2 or 3in drop shackles and l am looking at using a set of fat boy newtons and just making rear brackets. Any thoughts? Also will air bags effect the traction bar or help them?

If your gunna pull your gonna want long bars there's some trucks with severly damaged frames from running short bars, it acts as a fulcrum and the bend bad at the point there attached at.

General consensus is long bars are better for sled pulling, short bars better for drag racing. As far as the angle, the closer the bar is to parallel with the ground the better.

It looks like the guy before me did some sled pulling, because there is a little extra space between the cab and box. The truck will a dd, maybe some track, maybe some sled pulling.

Is there a in between? I was thinking on doing a 3 link set up. Two long bars on the bottom and one from the pumpkin to where the old carrier bearing was. Do you think this will get the best of both worlds?

I would think you would have binding with the leaf springs

when i made mine i did bushing on one end and heim joint on the other end... since mine is a crewcab i chose to go about 60" which put the front bracket right at the first available flat part of the frame

Ive always been told they should go on the frame close to were the first u joint is located so that would mean different lengths for different wheel bases
