I will be ordering me some cognito traction bars. I know the the tabs will need to be welded to the axle. I have a welder that is not a gas welder. Will I be ok welding them on the axle with out gas?

Arc or Mig? I would use gas on a Mig if at all possible, that flux core bs pisses me off :roflmao:
I know my welder can handle the steel just didn't know if I needed gas. And yes I can weld. If i buy James I still have to weld them.
Gas creates a cleaner weld meaning there is much less impurities in the weld that could cause it to fail. If your comfortable with the arch welder or flux core mig (dunno what one you have) then have at it. Just make sure you have good penetration and heat in it. If your welding on the axle, just be carefull as a bad weld could cause you alot of headache.
You can purchase pretty much anything through Barnes 4x4. Good service and reason able prices.

I'm a pretty decent welder but all I have is flux core mig. I have access to any setup I want but knowing that I wanted it to be quality and look quality I let James weld mine as well.
Also, I can attest that his bars are the best on the market...fit, finish etc. You couldn't give your money to a better guy. Just don't tell that little ****er I said so. :hug::thumb:

Not sure, I want to run a top link to tie the rear axle into the frame to give me a solid rear suspension. Where I could screw it up and down to adjust rear ride height and pull it off with a pin to drive on the street.
Not sure im followin you on that but ruffstuffspecialties.com or rustysoffroad.com both have lots of different tabs you could probably make work

I want to use this. Just imagine using this in place of the factory shocks. It will keep the rear suspension travel at 0 inchs. Ofcourse I am still gonna have the factory shocks mounted, that is why I'm looking for a part to tie it into the axle and the frame.
James, do your bars come with a new bottom plate for the u bolts or just tabs to weld to the ones I have already?
Can be done either way. if you wanna save a bit of coin, i can leave them out and let you weld the tabs to the u-bolt retainer plate
do your bars tie into the bottom of the frame, so there kinda angled inward? Or attach to the outside of the frame to keep it parallel to the frame? I've seen both ways
