I wish someone would answer you. I'd like to know to! I think my brother-in-law is gonna run a set of cal's but it will be on the street most of the time.

long bars that connect under the cab is what guys around here like, usually custom built though.. caltracs seem to be a better onroad drag racing bar.

From what I've heard the long custom bars are the best for pulling. I made some 6 1/2' bars for Duramax JP. With ballistic joints and included everything to install down to the brackets and bolts.

Yup. Like dmax15 said I he made me some 6.5' foot trac bars. And I have nothing but good things to say about them. They are strong and look good. I would defintely recommend having dmax15 build you some. I'll be puttin a thread up with pics when I get a chance.

:yup: From what I have seen and heard the longer the bar the better. I know the Big Stick runs long bars and Johnboy has no axle hop

dont use caltracs. ive heard of them bending and becoming junk on the pulling track. long bars are best. i have cognito's on mine. i love them because the have bushings at one end so they dont ride as harsh, but i dont think they are as good as the cutom ones with heims on both ends.

Any pics?

Ive been contemplating caltracs cuz Im on the street all the time, just want to do one or two pulls, and dont want big bars hanging underneath my truck.

Will the caltracs fail doing one or two sled pulls? will they work with 4'' rear blocks? The fairs coming next month and i'd like to do something:)

You can use a square tubing that will be much stronger and it wont need to be 2" ID

Custom bars, 6'+ in length, like the others said seem to be the popular choice around my area. If your worried about running them on the street, all that I've seen are removable, just pull the bolts/pins.

On a related note, I saw an 06 ccsb with a 4" lift and caltracs twist the driveshaft in half last night...major axle wrap.

I've got a set of long bars. You will be amazed at how smooth they are. You can tell a difference as soon as you put it in gear. I haven't test at the track yet but I think they are going to make a huge difference in how it runs. I can set you up with some for a good price. Pm me if your are interested.

I take it you were at the BUCK last night- that was some carnage! His truck doesnt have a lift though- but his Cal-tracs certainly didnt help him much. He got into a little rear bounce and kept it hammered down until the aluminum shaft twisted like a pretzel!
All of the bars that i have built for guys have been between 6'5'' to 7'3'' eye to eye depending on cab and bed configuration- using 2'' OD and 2 3/8'' OD tubing. GOOD LUCK_ Steven

Yep, that was it...happened right in front of me. The Caltrac bars appeared to bolt to the spring and enhanced (if anything) the axle wrap. As far as the lift, I could of swore there was at least helper springs or something done to the rear...maybe the wagon wheels threw me off :D

For the op, I wouldn't worry much about running the bars on the street...in fact they may help. I plan to build a set for my truck mainly for street use...ever hammer on the truck across washboards (dips caused by rigs tearing up the pavement) at a red light? My truck axle wraps hard in that situation.
