The other day i was towing the 5th wheel to Ok. around 65 to 75mph when the rpms started going way up and trans temp up to 220deg had to pull over 3 times for it to cool down to finish making the trip. So now truck is in the shop getting check out and at the very least i need a new tq converter... 77,800 miles on truck.

My question is if i put a new converter on in 3 months or so will the stronger converter make the trans start slipping? haven't limped it yet, but the mech is going to look at the clutches while it is out...

the stronger converter wont make the clutches start slipping but running larger than stock tunes and towing will greatly increase the chance for clutches to slip. the stock torque converter is weak though and after you putting in a better one, clutches are next to go. I would put better clutches in while the tech is in there (if you trust him to rebuild it). hell you will 3/4 of the way through a rebuild/built trans if the guy really is gunna look at all your clutches. Why pay twice? its not cheap now but it wont be any cheaper in the future.

Yea me and wife discussed it and decided to get it built. If I get Calvin to do it it is 4,800.00 out the door suncoast. That's a lot of money, but I know it will last
