I havent towed much and dont tow often. I pulled a case back hoe for my brother once and a bobcat for me on a couple of ocassions but that was before i tuned the truck. Now my father in law gave us his old camper, I towed it home yesterday about an 80 mile hike. I left the tuner cranked up on lvl 4 , it pulled good but i got really shitty mpg like 13 if that! I got 22.5 on the way down there! it was windy comin back but not too bad. Maybe its cause I set the cruise @ 80? i'm just wondering if anyone has played with the standard enough to know wich level tows best mpg wise? P.S. I had the cruise set @ 80 in drive and the egt's never went over 1250 or so going up hills but when i put it in manual and ran in 5th it cooled down like 200 degrees even up hills and stuff it was a pretty consistant 200 degree difference. 5th pulled better too like the camper wasnt even there but it was way worse mpg wise i think my meter said like 9.8:confused:

Better check the speed rating on your rv tires. many of them are only rated at 65 mph. Rv isn't real heavy or you would have limped your tranny. My 5th wheel weighs in at nearly 17,000 lbs. Level 2 on an Edge Evo will limp my tranny given the right conditions, head wind or hills.

What's wrong with 13mpg towing:confused: What did you expect?

You don't know what will limp his tranny and what won't, his 6 speed is stronger then your 5 speed, he also has a Transgo to help hold the power.

13mpg is pretty good for what your wanting. that tune is not built to be used as a towing tune. sure you get good fuel mileage with the truck by its self but towing 80mph on a 160-200hp (or somewhere around there) tune, with a good 7-9k on the back is not going to net you awesome fuel mileage. Not to mention lots of other variables outside the truck affect mpg as well. not jsut wind. Not sure what you really are wanting to see or for us to tell you but jsut cause one tune does great without towing, doesnt mean it will be a great tow tune too.

Pulling a trailer on tune 4 or 5 and it will cost you a $4000 tranny bill sooner or later.

I used the tow tune - level 2 when I used the PPE.

I've been towing with the PPE level 2, and am happy so far. Pulling a 12k concession trailer with ease. Have any of you guys ran the level 3 w/out getting the boost/egt gauges? I want to try it out, but dont want to take a chance of tearing something up.
