I have a tow tune that is about 100hp. If I wanted it to run a little cooler, can I just add a little timing or do I need to pull a little out of the pulse width?

Just add a few degrees and give it a try, no need to pull PW. But if timing doesnt cure the problem or you start to create smoke then you can pull back the PW.

they weren't terrible, but just cruising on flat ground with the trailer they were 11-1200 and if I hit a smaller hill, they quickly went to 13-1400. Previously with my old predator tow tune, I am sure that they were lower and didn't hit the 13-1400 so fast. I know with this tune that the timing was pretty low, lower than stock in the cruisin range, so I think I will try raising it a little there or put the stock numbers in and see how it does.

No, you are right, that one does have more than stock, in the cruising range. I was looking up a line or two, not taking enough into account. So Chris, what would you suggest for controlling the egt's a little more? I would like to make it like others where they can keep it to 1200 for the most part. Maybe the other thing is to have the truck downshift a little sooner to 4th due to the bigger tires instead of having to do it manually.

To change this downshift, I assume this is all in the TCM right?

Maybe we should start over...Send your stock tune and your 100HP tune and I'll take a look...The tune I have saved on my laptop looks pretty good, even for an amatuer...

I run one of Chris' tow tunes and haven't changed anything with it and run about the same egt's as you do. I added a water inj. kit and now when pulling 9000lbs through the mountains I rarely see over 1350.

I also changed my trans tune so it holds 4th and 5th longer and that also helped drop cruising and high speed towing egt's.

I am having the same experience pulling a 12000 5th wheel. My egt will go to 1400-1450 in a flash even in stock mode. Don't understand this egt problem with these trucks!! I am headed to the mountains tomorrow for about a 2500 mile pull and will be trying out various things if it don't melt down!!!

I towed a horse trailer for a friend last night with a 'blunt' head (the top of the trailer wasn't as aerodynamic as mine and it say above the roof of my truck w/ the gooseneck) and the crosswinds weren't that loud but I could tell by me EGT gauge it was making a difference!
my EGTs were around 10-1100 on FLAT ground and up hills exact same thing as yours...
When the wind stopped they went back to 900ish average and mileage came back up.
